We landed in Reykjavik with a jam packed itinerary and after dumping our bags at the hotel we were off on our first day trip. First stop on the tour was a horse sanctuary where we met some gorgeous little ponies before heading to the spectacular Gulfoss waterfall and then to the Geysers which are great fun as you wait for the steam to explode from the ground. The scenery here is wild, dramatic and beautiful, and we stopped off at various view points along the way to admire the surroundings! A long but awesome first day.

The next day we boarded our boat for whale watching! After getting full decked out in waterproof gear we were off, and all though we did see a few tails from a pod of Minky whales they were quite far away so not perhaps the close encounter we were hoping for, but a fun trip.

We also got to explore more of the city and take in some of the sights including the impressive Concert hall and the Viking boat sculpture before heading out for dinner. We had been warned that it is an expensive city but we had a nice meal and few drinks before calling it a night.
Our last day was the famous Blue Lagoon. Yes this is quite touristy, but rightly so as its amazing. We quickly got changed and straight in the warm creamy turquoise water, spending a lovely few hours swimming around and visiting the swim up bars. I even had a massage in the lagoon which was a unique experience.

So all in all we had a great trip, it’s a stunning country but if I was going again, I would be more careful about where we stayed as the water in our hotel smelled very strongly of sulphur from the volcanic activity. I would also go at a time of year when its possible to see the northern lights which I would love to see, but we actually won this trip in a competition, so cant complain!
