That’s a wrap on South America

So our South American adventure is over and I can’t actually believe I’m writing this. After looking forward to the trip for so long it feels very strange to be heading home but it’s been absolutely amazing. Although I’m gutted its come to an end and not looking forward to the British weather I can’t wait to see friends, family, my own bed and of course my beloved beans.

Lowlights have been few and far between, being away for Christmas, both being ill a few times and the massive 24hour journeys in the heat were testing to say the least. All worth it of course for the amazing places we have been, highlights were completing the Inca Trail, dune buggy rides in the Peruvian desert, river safari in the Bolivian Pampas, surviving death road to make it our Coroico hideaway, first day of the salt flats, star gazing in the Atacama desert, the winery in Cafayate, the white water rafter and horse riding day in Mendoza, our amazing pad in Buenos Aires, delicious food in São Paulo, the truly outrages beaches throughout Brazil, all of our our beloved Rio but especially the view from Sugarloaf, the epic Iguaçu falls, snorkelling in Bonito and finishing the trip hand gliding in Rio to name a few.
Brazil takes the crown as our favourite country, it’s ever friendly people, bottomless caiprinhas, infectious beats and pristine beaches make it a truly awesome place.

We have met some totally random and brilliant people along the way from all over the globe, huge thanks to all who have been part of our travels.
We have certainly stayed in some interesting places, from a bed in shed in the Colca Canyon to a beautiful boutique hotel in Santa Teresa and everything in between.
I also feel very lucky to say we have made it without major incident or loss which is nothing short of a miracle for me.

I can’t quite get over they variety of landscapes we have seen from jaw dropping mountain ranges, baking hot deserts, enormous lakes, inspiring cites, tropical jungles, endless salt flats, beautiful beaches and more. Yet we have only seen a small part of what the awesome continent has to offer, we didn’t get chance to see Columbia, Venezuela, Patagonia in Argentina or the whole North of Brazil but you can’t do everything and hopefully we will be back one day.

So this is the end of the blog, we have loved writing it and it will be an amazing thing to look back on when we are old and grey. Huge thanks to Dan who has been a brilliant travelling partner, I have absolutely loved sharing this with you and your endless patience… thank you, I love you.

That’s all folks, South America… you are ace, hasta luego xxx
