Valencia. May 2022

After arriving late Friday evening we took a taxi to our hotel in the old town and straight to bed, ready for the big day as we were in town for our friends wedding!

Saturday morning and we had a super cute little breakfast on the hotels rooftop and spent an hour or so relaxing by the miniature pool before getting ready. All dressed up we headed to the church nearby for the beautiful ceremony. The reception was held at the Museum of Arts and Sciences which was an utterly incredible venue and we had the most gorgeous day celebrating.

The next day, and a little hungover, we walked via the Turia river bed which is now a huge park through the city, and met up with everyone at Atic which is a lovely rooftop bar for a superb brunch. Dan and I then walked down to the massive beach and spent a couple of hours relaxing on the sand, a little later the gang turned up with snacks and Don Simon the legends. Once the sun went in we grabbed a taxi back to the hotel to freshen up and there was a religious festival happening so the streets were packed as people watched the procession. We had a quick beer in one of the squares before meeting up with everyone for dinner, a lovely evening but by this point everyone was shattered!

Last day and we spent the morning on the roof again before doing a tour of the sights in the old town. First stop was Placa del Ayuntamiento which boasts some gorgeous buildings, then onto the Mercado Central which feels like a cross between a church and a train station. Next was Barrio del Carmen for a pit stop before Porta de Serrans which is Valencia’s answer to the Arc de Triomphe. We then popped back to the hotel rooftop to chill for an hour with some drinks before a short walk to La Cathedral which features the actual Holy Grail and trekked up the 200 or so steps of the bell tower for a lush view over the city. Our last stop was Sagardi a cute pintxos bar for a final beer and a bit of jamon before the late flight home.

A glorious, sunny weekend with our pals in a beautiful city and an epic wedding!
