Ibiza. September 2025

We’ve been to the White Isle many times but this trip promised to be a bit different and we arrived with a plan to see parts of the island we hadn’t been to before. We were staying in Cala Llonga on the east coast and had a lovely little apartment just on the edge of town, we arrived mid afternoon and got set up before grabbing a cold beer and some food at the hotel. We then set out to get the lay of land, walking 5min down to the beach which is super nice, lovely clear water and a few stylish beach bars. We also walked up to The Hyde / Mondrian hotel to check it out, we thought about getting a day pass but decided the music wasn’t really our vibe! We did have a drink in one of the bars overlooking the beach though before getting the wee man to bed and an early night ourselves.

Next day we pottered around the hotel between our terrace and the main pool and popped down to the beach for a couple of hours, a nice chilled day. We decided to see if Louis would sleep in his pushchair while we went out for dinner and it took a while but he did drop off bless him so that was a nice treat! Wednesday we were booked into Amante for lunch which was only 10min walk from our hotel. This place really is gorgeous, we had a table looking right over the water which almost doesn’t look real the colour is so vibrant. We shared a huge seabass and pistachio tiramisu and it was delicious, a wonderful if rather hot afternoon.

The next day we hired a car from a place in the resort and set out to explore. We drove south and through the glittering salt flats to Es Cavallet beach, which I’m sure is really nice but the mounds of seaweed did ruin the effect somewhat. We had a tasty if overpriced lunch at El Chiringuito, this a cool place complete with a chap going table to table selling fresh oysters, if you like that sort of thing. Late afternoon we drove to the Es Vedra Miradour, this is said to be a mythical island and the view is pretty spectacular. 5min down the hill is Cala d’Hort which is a nice little beach with another stunning view of Es Vedra and the perfect spot for a sundowner.

Friday we set out early(ish) just 10min drive to Santa Eulària. We parked up at the south of town and walked along the front, past the 2 beaches, the marina and then up the hill through the pine trees to the Punta de s’Església Vella viewpoint. Pretty sweaty by now we headed back down and through town to the main square for an iced coffee and then had a really good tapas lunch before heading back for an afternoon by the pool and take out pizza for tea.

Last day with the car we drove to the North and the town of Portinax, it’s much more relaxed and rustic up here and has a strong hippy heritage. We picked a spot of one of the small beaches, chilled for a little while then walked 20min or so to the other end of town which takes you past a couple of other beaches and several bars so we stopped for a quick drink while Louis napped before heading back to our beach and lunch at Los Enamorados. We had planned to see a couple of the other coves nearby but it was pretty cloudy and Louis was grouchy so that was the end of our Ibizan tour.

We had also hoped to get the ferry to Formenttera for the day as it went direct from our beach but Louis wasn’t doing too well with his feeding and the weather was very mixed so our last few days were spent pottering around Cala Llonga featuring some lovely meals, plenty of beach time, one rain day and of course a few piña coladas.
